Yesterday the Aion servers went down for about an hour while the team implemented a change to the private store system.
The purpose of the maintenance was to change the private stores so that they now have a 30 minute timer. The change was implemented to counter a certain abuse from players who used the private stores when going AFK in order to avoid disconnects for inactivity. This of course so that they didn't have to wait in queue to get on to the servers again. The Aion team said earlier this week that new servers were on the way, and indeed they were. The first server to be added is named Fregion and it has been set to North American West Coast time.
